Zulu Culture in KZN.

When you think of Africa and South Africa, other than Table mountain and we all know where that is, or Wild life and in that respect we immediately think of the Kruger Park. The other thing that comes to mind is the Zulu people!!

Strange but true no one seems to know where to find African culture, the most famous tribe of all ….The Zulu's ……. Shaka

Well its right here Shakas Rock

Zulu Culture is still live and well in KwaZulu Natal and more particularly up the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal. Kwadukuza as our tourisium centre suggests in its name “Sangeni” (Meaning Gateway) gateway to Zululand and the Zulu people.

Within 15 km radius we have Shakas grave, Shakas Rock where shaka through people into the Ocean, Shakaskraal and Shakas head.

Cultural tourists sites like Shakaland a cultural village and Simunye are also reasonably close by for tourists to see traditional cultural behaviour.

We at the secret spot also from time to time if the numbers are justified take people into rural Kwazulu Natal and experience cultural living where sangomas (Traditional African healer) still practice, visit a shabeen (African bar).

Have a taste of traditional food and just simply visit and talk to families in the area and watch a choir, visit a school or see a self-help programme of which there are many.

Or even by a gift from the locals who make the crafts, bead work or garments themselves, chat with them and experience the spirit of “Ubuntu.” Then read a book on Ubuntu to understand more either prior to or after a visit in rural kwazulu natal

We also enjoy drumming evenings from time to time
