Ticket to Ride

The inaugural surfing trip arranged by U.K. based company Ticket to Ride which spent 3 months surfing around the South African Coastline from Cape Town to Durban ended its “Business end” of the trip at The Secret Spot Surf Camp.

19 Students ended the 3 month surfing trip, doing a level 1 surf coaching course and Surf Lifesaving course Facilitated at The Secret Spot Surf Camp.

Some student had never surfed before, and had enrolled with the view of learning to surf and also qualify with the above courses, which most students achieved.

The trip took them along the South African Eastcoast, starting off at Kometjie in Cape Town . The trip went on to Pletenburg Bay , Jeffrey Bay , Coffee Bay in the Transkie, all the way up the South Coast of Durban and Finally The Secret Spot Surf Camp in Ballito and Ansteys Beach on the Bluff.

Testimony of the trip in the form of a song written by one of the student's surfer, singer and song writer “Adam Kent” can be downloaded (“We had a Ticket To Ride”).

The Secret Spot was credited on his soundtrack with words describing how the group was spoilt with luxury meals, facilities and accommodation at The Secret Spot, which brought smiles to both the owners and the staff of The Secret Spot Surf Camp.

The initiative was born by surfers and surfer Instructors Will Hagler, Tim Boil, and Lindley Lewis all from the U.K. who had developed connections in the South African surfing fraternity and identified the great opportunities that South Africa had to offer young tourists. They combined an African experience and a surfing Safari.
